Loot is the lifeblood of progression in Blood & Lineage. Understanding how gear works and what to look for will make the difference between a failed run and defeating Hades.
How Loot Works in Blood & Lineage
As a roguelike, Blood & Lineage resets your collected loot at the start of each new run. The gear you find during a run directly shapes your build and determines how effectively you can handle the increasingly dangerous enemies on your way to the Underworld.
Loot drops from defeated enemies, with rarer and more powerful items dropping from elite enemies and bosses. Since you are fighting massive hordes in Musou fashion, the sheer volume of enemies means loot drops are frequent — the challenge is identifying which pieces are actually upgrades.
Evaluating Gear
Not every loot drop is worth picking up. Learn to quickly evaluate whether a new piece of gear improves your current build or takes it in a direction you do not want to go. In fast-paced Musou combat, spending too long in menus comparing stats can cost you momentum.
As a general rule, prioritize gear that enhances your class's core strengths. A damage-focused class benefits most from offensive gear, while a survivability-focused class should look for defensive stats. Hybrid pieces that offer a bit of both are solid choices when you are unsure.

Loot Rarity and Quality
Roguelike games typically feature tiered loot rarity systems. Higher rarity gear offers better base stats and may include unique effects that can define an entire build. Prioritize these powerful drops when they appear.
On higher difficulty levels, loot quality generally improves, creating a rewarding feedback loop where harder content gives you better tools to tackle even harder content. This is one of the primary motivations for pushing into tougher difficulty tiers.
Optimizing Loot in Co-op
In co-op play, discuss loot distribution with your team. If a drop is a perfect fit for one player's build but only a marginal upgrade for another, directing it to the player who benefits most strengthens the entire team.
Some co-op groups designate one player as the primary damage dealer and funnel offensive loot to them, while other players focus on utility and survival gear. This focused approach can be more effective than everyone competing for the same drops.
